It’s been a long time coming but finally I’ve got around to taking some pictures of our tiny house or what we call our Rustic Cabin in the woods. It’s a nice place to go when we are done with our homestead chores.

It’s so perfect for us as it’s only a little bit of a walk to the end of our property.

We own 25 acres of mostly large cedar trees and hubs had the cabin built in the middle of a nice patch of the woods next to our house.

The best part of it all is that you can’t see it from our house or even hear what’s going on at the cabin when we are at the house. It’s like a mini vacation that’s seconds from the house. It’s a nice place to kick off the farm boots, sit on the deck and look at only woods and listen to the sounds of all the wildlife all around us.

At night you can hear the owls talking to each other, or the foxes running down by the creek. Turkey and white tailed deer are all over the farm, not to mention coyotes.

Hubs had to make a base for the cabin to sit on, so in the front he found perfect stones that make the front patio and soon a outdoor gas fireplace. I love the old fence that he built that is in the front of the cabin. It gives it such a rustic look and it just makes the place look awesome.

That’s the first thing you can see from the tiny old gravel road that is in front of the cabin. We are the only place that has electric and water, the rest of the road is home to summer camps. So traffic is never a problem where we live. 🙂

We had the cabin built to order right on the site and hubs finished the inside. He wired it with all 12 Volt. Everything runs on one battery. He’s not finished with kitchen area yet. He will have running water in the sink with a tank in the ceiling. We will have to fill it up each time we have guests come. But it will last them the whole weekend. Solar Panels are coming later this year or next.

He insulated everything before adding the paneling, that really helped hold in the heat with our gas fireplace, keeps it toasty warm in the winter. The ceiling he added thin metal. I saw this same thing in a little restaurant that we have in our town and fell in love with it. So we ordered it special from Menards.  I just love how rustic that makes the inside look and it just glows when we have the LED lights on.

There is a bedroom with a queen size bed that he built the frame and added a futon mattress, which is the most comfortable bed EVER! That way we could put storage under the bed. We have a bunk bed on the other wall, which will have a bookcase in front to give you more privacy and more storage.

I really should have made the bed better. Oops!

I hope you enjoyed the tour! Of our Rustic Cabin Tiny House In The Woods. We’re not totally done with it, but it’s so relaxing to just go down there for a few hours each day and totally unplug from the world. Oh and the cell service doesn’t work down there. Yea Haw!
